WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT?
Phil. 4:8, Ps. 92:1

What do you think about, what you think about
Those thoughts that show up all the time
What do you think about all the fear and doubt
Yeah, they don’t have to rule your mind

You can choose what you chew on pick what you ponder
You don’t have to simply just let your mind wander

All that’s lovely and pure, what is honored and adored
All that’s excellent and true
What is worthy of your praise, all that manifests His grace
These are all the things that you... can think on

What do you think about, how you’re feeling now
Emotions don’t define your life
‘Cause how you’re feeling now shows what you’ve been thinking ‘bout
You can always make it right

Have that attitude that brims with gratitude
for all the good things God has done
Take that look around and let your joy abound
count your blessings one by one

TAKE HEART
John 16:33

You thought you were the only one
To ever come to know
So many ups and downs
Peace that comes and goes

You thought that there was no one else
To ever feel this way
Like there’s a cloud surrounding you,
That You can’t escape

Take heart
Somehow trials and joy can coexist
Take heart
There’s a peace in Christ that makes no sense
‘cause He’s still there by your side
Take Heart

You thought you were the only one
To feel disqualified
Your never ending worries
Keep you so preoccupied

But Jesus said, “I give you peace
Though in this world your trouble will not cease,
But I have overcome the world”

EVERY DAY
Phil. 4:11-13, Prov. 3:5-6

Some days I think I’ve really got it going
Not a care in the world, not a cloud in the sky
But then Inevitably
I slip, I fall and it’s me
Hoodwinked and wounded by my own pride

God knows just how much I need Him
But it’s sad to say
I don’t always perceive it
Truth is I need Him all day every day

And some days it feels like I must be a marked man
Walking ‘round with a big bullseye on my back
With all of life’s weaponry
Locked and loaded, pointed at me
Do I have any hope to survive this attack?

I guess I tend to underestimate
How much I need my God to lead the way…everyday

These days I’m doing my best to remember
The all sufficiency of His glorious grace
To see myself the way that He does
Stand firm, convinced of His love
Assured that He’s with me all of my days

God knows just how much I need Him
And now I pray
He’ll help me to perceive it,
Truth is I need Him all day every day

MAYBE
1 Cor. 12:26, 1 Peter 5: 6, 7

Maybe your life is not as hard as it seems
Maybe you’re really not that far from where you should be
Maybe you’re harder on yourself than anybody else would ever be
Maybe the standard that you seek is an impossibility,
out of your reach, maybe

Maybe perfection’s not a goal you have to reach today
Maybe there’s nothing wrong at all in showing yourself some grace
Maybe just giving it your all and letting the chips fall
is quite okay
Maybe that’s the best that you, could ever hope to do
Each new day, maybe

You are more than your victories
and accomplishments by far
Who you are doesn’t really change
On those days things fall apart

Maybe life’s not the one-man show that it seems
Maybe you’re not quite as alone as you believe
Maybe the people in your world are truly more concerned
than you ever knew
So maybe it’s time to take a chance and reach out for their hands
To help you through

Maybe the Savior of the world is truly more concerned
than you ever knew
And maybe it’s time to take the chance and reach out for His hand
To help you through, maybe

FALL FROM GRACE
Gal. 3:3, 5:4, Col. 2:6

It doesn’t take that long here lately
For me to wander from the truth
It doesn’t take much to make it all about me
When it’s all about You
I start to think I’ve got so much to prove
I try to earn your love by the things I do

Catch me when I fall, fall from grace
Remind me what it was that saved me
in the first place
In the same way I received You,
that’s how I need to run the race
Catch me when I fall, fall from grace

It doesn’t take much to cloud my vision
Of the changes You made in me
All the miracles inside me go missing
In my new identity
I think that I still have so much to do
Before I earn the right to walk with You

Tell me the story all over again
Of all You did for me to pay for my sin
The love that You demonstrated
The new life that You created

ALL OF THESE
Ps. 8:3-4, 121:1-2

I look…look to the heavens
Gaze at the sky, wondering why, You would think of me
The Moon … and stars set in place
This great expanse, the work of Your hands,  You are  full of grace

You direct my steps, You restore my soul
Guard my going out, and my coming home
Never fall asleep, or forget my name

Ruler of this world I see
Creator of everything, that ever came to be
Friend and Comforter, Provider of my needs
It’s amazing You are all of these to me

I look…look to the mountains
Asking myself, where will my help, be coming from
From You…You Who are maker
Of Heaven and earth, and all that’s of worth, my help comes from You

Savior, Healer, Helper, Lord and Redeemer
Father, Shepherd, Somehow all of these together

JOY
Acts 20:35, 2 Cor. 8:1-5, Phil. 2:3-8

You can live your life clinging to all that you own
Wrap your arms around tightly and sit there alone
Betting your happiness
Comes from all you possess
But hopefully sooner than later you’ll come to know  (that)

It’s Joy, yes true joy that we’re all looking for
It’s Joy, yes true joy that we search for each day (in so many ways)
But often our selfishness blinds the best of us
Cause Joy isn’t found ’til you learn to give things away

We have not been designed to just live for ourselves
Push through the crowd past everyone else
Thinking that our success
Is the secret to happiness
Cause somewhere …down the road of life time will tell

Spending some time sharing the wealth
Footing the bill for somebody else
Yielding your place, stepping aside
Forfeiting some or all of your rights
Doing it all without return

HE HAS
Phil. 3:12-13, Heb. 8:12, Ps. 103:12

I’ve made my share of mistakes
At times they taunt me still
Even though I’ve tasted of God’s grace
I’m often haunted by the guilt

But every wrong I’ve done
Was paid for at the cross
And God remembers them no more, no more

No need for second guessing
Or to relive the past
I can forget what lies behind
Because I know He has

I need the faith to hold tight
And to always believe
That Jesus perfect sacrifice
Did a perfect work in me

That every wrong I’ve done
Was paid for at the cross
And God remembers them no more…

Fifteen years ago or just yesterday
Every single one washed away

EMPTY NEST
Eph. 5:22-28, Prov. 5:18

Every day that passes makes it clearer
The reason that we came to be
The time we spend now draws us nearer
And you wont hear a complaint from me

You can see the smile lines on our faces
We are not as young as before
But you wont find me wishing to trade places
‘cause what awaits us excites me more

With the kids all gone and grown now
We’re finding out that we’re still blessed
Most our days find us alone now
And it seems our love has passed the test
‘Cause there’s not much emptiness
in our empty nest

Remembering things now is just harder
And we like it best when life goes slow
Yea, we’re not getting any smarter
And that’s all a part of us growing old

It’s true the house is
Not quite as loud as it was before
But we are finding
That we’re not minding it much anymore

FOR OUR GOOD
Isaiah 53

Broken and bruised,
Pierced for our transgression, object of oppression

Broken and bruised,
Wrongfully convicted, punished and afflicted

For our good shame withstood

And the Father He has caused, The sin of us all
On Him to fall…for our good

Broken and bruised,
Lamb led to the slaughter and it pleased the Father

Broken and bruised,
Hated and rejected, wounded and neglected

For our good suffering withstood

Like sheep just wand’ring astray
Each of us in our own way

Yet for our good the cross withstood

And the Father He has caused, The sin of us all
On Him to fall…for our good

Pierced for our transgression
Perfect Love’s expression
